Kelly Rowland Rescued After 12 Hours At Sea

If whale-watching has ever been on your bucket list, convincing friends to come along is a headache especially if they’ve watched at sea horror movies like “Jaws.” There is always some fear that something will happen to the boat.

Kelly Rowland came head to head with that fear this weekend when she rented a private boat with friends for a day of whale watching in Cape Cod.  The group was off the shore of  Provincetown, Massachusetts when their boat became disoriented in the five-to-six foot waves and coast guards had to be called in to tow the boat back to shore.

According to E! News, they finally made it back to land around 10 pm after 12 long hours at sea, and  Kelly and her friends were  ‘tired and thankful’ and just wanted to get off the boat.

Kelly has made no mention of the boating mishap but she did share 1 or 2 images from her time in Provincetown which she described as the happiest place on earth.

You can catch those below:

It’s good to hear that she is okay!  This is the #1 fear I have with taking a cruise. SOS please!

Patience Jonathan’s mother dies in crash

THERE was anxiety in Port Harcourt on Monday as news of the death of Mrs. Iwari-Oba, the mother of the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience,  spread in the Rivers State capital.

The mother of Mrs. Jonathan was said to have been involved in a ghastly motor accident along Elele Road in Rivers State.

It was gathered that the woman, who is from Okrika Local Government Area, was on her way to Bayelsa State when the accident happened.

Unconfirmed report indicated that her corpse was taken to Kpaiyama Mortuary by a team of policemen and a member representing Ogu Bolo State Constituency, Mr. Evans Bipi, who is a relative to the deceased.

Though, the police and the Federal Road Safety Commission in the state could not confirm the incident, an aide to Bipi said the First Lady’s mother died in a road accident, which occurred at about 4pm.

Bipi’s aide, Mr. Fred Itobo, told The PUNCH that the President’s wife’s mother was involved in the accident while she was on her way to Bayelsa State.

“Yes! She was involved in an accident and she died. Her body has been taken to a mortuary. Bipi was among those who took her body to the mortuary,” Itobo said.

When contacted, the State Director of FRSC, Dr. Kayode Olagunju, declined comment on the matter, saying, “I cannot say anything on this matter now until I get full details.”

Though effort to get reactions from the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Angela Agabe, proved futile, she had already told a journalist on the telephone that she had not been briefed on such crash.

New Video: Kelly Rowland – ‘Dirty Laundry’

The dirty laundry has been aired! Now, catch the visual!

Kelly Rowland is doing some serious personal reflection in the video for her emotional track “Dirty Laundry” off of her new album, Talk a Good Game.  The controversial track created a lot of buzz earlier this year after Kelly sang about watching Beyonce’s career blow up while her solo moves weren’t as successful, and how she spent years in an abusive relationship that she kept under wraps.

K. Row keeps it simple in the new video while highlighting how alone she felt, and there are a few scenes that represent her early days of Destiny’s Child. She also spills real tears in between intense scenes with a man who plays her former abuser.

‘When you make pain look this good, it never wears out.’

[Video] President Obama Addresses The Zimmerman Verdict & Race In America

President Obama made one thing clear last Friday. He is not the least bit happy with the way the Trayvon Martin case turned out.

Ever since, George Zimmerman was acquitted on charges of killing Trayvon, folks have been asking the President, “What are you going to do?” and today he gave the best answer possible as he not only addressed the profiling of African American boys in America, but also offered a few possible solutions that could be put in place so that young black men could have more faith in the justice system.

The speech was very personal with President Obama asking the profound question, “I just ask people to consider if Trayvon Martin was of age and armed, could he have stood his ground on that sidewalk? And do we actually think that he would have been justified in shooting Mr. Zimmerman, who had followed him in a car, because he felt threatened?”

Catch the video and a few key points from the speech below:

Highlights!

President Obama clarified his comment that if Trayvon could have been his son

I did want to just talk a little bit about context and how people have responded to it and how people are feeling. You know, when Trayvon Martin was first shot, I said that this could have been my son. Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago. And when you think about why, in the African- American community at least, there’s a lot of pain around what happened here, I think it’s important to recognize that the African- American community is looking at this issue through a set of experiences and a history that — that doesn’t go away.
There are very few African-American men in this country who haven’t had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store. That includes me. And there are very few African-American men who haven’t had the experience of walking across the street and hearing the locks click on the doors of cars. That happens to me, at least before I was a senator. There are very few African-Americans who haven’t had the experience of getting on an elevator and a woman clutching her purse nervously and holding her breath until she had a chance to get off. That happens often.

President Obama explained exactly why African-Americans may be looking at the case from a standpoint that is different than other races based on their experiences

I don’t want to exaggerate this, but those sets of experiences inform how the African-American community interprets what happened one night in Florida. And it’s inescapable for people to bring those experiences to bear.
The African-American community is also knowledgeable that there is a history of racial disparities in the application of our criminal laws, everything from the death penalty to enforcement of our drug laws. And that ends up having an impact in terms of how people interpret the case.
Now, this isn’t to say that the African-American community is naive about the fact that African-American young men are disproportionately involved in the criminal justice system, that they are disproportionately both victims and perpetrators of violence. It’s not to make excuses for that fact, although black folks do interpret the reasons for that in a historical context.

President Obama acknowledged the black on black crime in America but says that shouldn’t be used as an excuse to what happened the night Trayvon Martin was killed nor should the issue be overlooked

There are these statistics out there that show that African-American boys are more violent — using that as an excuse to then see sons treated differently causes pain.
I think the African-American community is also not naive in understanding that statistically somebody like Trayvon Martin was probably statistically more likely to be shot by a peer than he was by somebody else.
So — so folks understand the challenges that exist for African- American boys, but they get frustrated, I think, if they feel that there’s no context for it or — and that context is being denied. And — and that all contributes, I think, to a sense that if a white male teen was involved in the same kind of scenario, that, from top to bottom, both the outcome and the aftermath might have been different.

President Obama gave possible solutions to strengthen faith in the justice system

Number one, precisely because law enforcement is often determined at the state and local level, I think it’d be productive for the Justice Department — governors, mayors to work with law enforcement about training at the state and local levels in order to reduce the kind of mistrust in the system that sometimes currently exists.
You know, when I was in Illinois I passed racial profiling legislation. And it actually did just two simple things. One, it collected data on traffic stops and the race of the person who was stopped. But the other thing was it resourced us training police departments across the state on how to think about potential racial bias and ways to further professionalize what they were doing.
And initially, the police departments across the state were resistant, but actually they came to recognize that if it was done in a fair, straightforward way, that it would allow them to do their jobs better and communities would have more confidence in them and in turn be more helpful in applying the law. And obviously law enforcement’s got a very tough job.
Number three — and this is a long-term project: We need to spend some time in thinking about how do we bolster and reinforce our African-American boys? And this is something that Michelle and I talk a lot about. There are a lot of kids out there who need help who are getting a lot of negative reinforcement. And is there more that we can do to give them the sense that their country cares about them and values them and is willing to invest in them?

President Obama on why the ‘Stand Your Ground’ Law needs reexamining

If we’re sending a message as a society in our communities that someone who is armed potentially has the right to use those firearms even if there’s a way for them to exit from a situation, is that really going to be contributing to the kind of peace and security and order that we’d like to see?
And for those who resist that idea that we should think about something like these “stand your ground” laws, I just ask people to consider if Trayvon Martin was of age and armed, could he have stood his ground on that sidewalk? And do we actually think that he would have been justified in shooting Mr. Zimmerman, who had followed him in a car, because he felt threatened? And if the answer to that question is at least ambiguous, it seems to me that we might want to examine those kinds of laws.

The checks keep right on coming in for Kelly Rowland.  She is now the new face of Jaguar!

Earlier this month, she inked a deal to endorse and promote the new F-Type series from the British car manufacturer, and she will soon be featured in commercials promoting the brand.  This week, she shared a few photos from the set of an ad campaign in Miami with the caption:
“Cruisin in my #F-type @jaguarUSA! Shooting commercial latemiaminights The jag is everything! Supersexy!!!”
Kelly’s past endorsement deals have included the luxury watch brand TW Steel and Sean John’s “Empress” perfume. With her new stint on X-Factor, she’s expected to snag even more deals during the course of the season.

 Catch some pics below:

Kelly was also spotted with Will Smith’s son Trey in Miami.  Trey was hired by Jaguar to DJ a launch event for the new F-type series.

Rihanna Fans Pelt Chips At The Stage

Pon Di Chips! These Fans are going cray cray!

Earlier this week, during a tour stop in Manchester, a few unruly Rihanna fans started pelting chips at the stage during her performance because they were reportedly upset at the delayed start of the show.
The whole thing was caught on video with Rihanna labeling the chip-throwers as a big  ‘epic fail’:
I know it was going to be crazy, but f–k. This is next level. There’s a good crazy and there’s a bad crazy. When you throw s–t up here, that’s an epic fail.
I swear to God. Cut that s–t out. Really? Chips? Chips, though? That’s that important?
Luckily for the fans, it wasn’t Kanye that they were pelting chips at. Back in 2011, during the “Watch The Throne” tour, he kicked an entire section near the stage out of the show after someone threw a business card on stage.
We risking our lives here, so you can’t be throwing sh-t that we gon’ slip on. So this whole section right here…girls and guys [gotta go!]

My Marriage Is Still Intact..... Stop The Rumour.... She Says..

Star actress Funke Akindele, yesterday broke her silence on her failed marriage rumour. My marriage is intact, she said in an SMS message to The Nation.

The message reads: “I read in the newspaper yesterday that I am divorced. What proof do you have? And I am taking this to court because my marriage is intact. You guys are rumour mongers. Funke Akindele Oloyede.”

The Nation on Tuesday reported that the actress may have been separated from her husband, Alhaji Kehinde Oloyede, son of former Iyaloja of Oshodi market.

Oloyede on Monday announced a “separation” via his facebook page. He said: “It is with heavy heart that I am announcing the separation of me and my wife, Mrs Olufunke Akindele. We have both agreed to go our separate ways because of irreconcilable differences. We are still best of friends and we would forever remain good friends.”

The statement, which the actress’ husband has since deleted from his facebook wall, generated concerns among the star’s fans, who made the issue a major topic on social media platforms.

Attempts to reach the actress on Monday failed. Her elder sister, who doubles as her spokesperson, Mrs Ayo-Ola Muhammed, failed to make an official statement she promised when contacted because, according to reports, the actress asked that no statement be made on the issue.

Mrs Muhammed debunked an online report claiming that she confirmed the separation to a notable blogger in Nigeria (Linda Ikeji).

Reports say her husband may have removed the “notice of separation,” including a more defiance follow-up post from his facebook wall, due to pressure from friends and family members. The actress is said to have been crying inconsolably since the incident, fearing criticisms by her fans and her clients’ reactions.
Funke, a film producer and ambassador of several brands, including telecommunications giant, Globacom, got married to Oloyede 14 months ago in a grand ceremony held in Lagos.

Funke’s decision to marry the real estate business man, was severely criticised by her fans who wondered why she should get involved in polygamy. She rebuffed critics on one occasion, saying: “I can tell you authoritatively that my husband is not married to anyone else. Yes, he has beautiful children, who are not mine and we have a cordial relationship, which dates back to even before we got married.”

On another occasion, she told her critics: “Will you be happier if I had married someone who didn’t have children, seems so perfect, put on my make-up and fake smile on the red carpet and start weeping when I get home? About my in-laws, they are very wonderful and supportive and my parents and siblings as well. ”

Funke and husband are known to be living separately since they got married. Oloyede is said to visit Funke occasionally. Story of Oloyede’s last child by another woman came about the same time that the rumour of Funke’s pregnancy went viral on social media. The actress was later said to have a miscarriage.

Meanwhile, apart from deleting the statement from his facebook wall, Oloyede is yet to refute the announcement in any way.
